Thankful Thursday

It has been quite a while since I did an edition of Thankful Thursday.  It has been so busy that I have let more days pass between posts recently than I would like.  Today I am thankful for:

:: the fall light, in all of it's forms

:: little girls growing confident in themselves

:: new friends and the steady comfort of those we know so well

:: being a part of a community of women who pull together in amazing ways to help a friend with   cancer

:: hours lost in a good book

:: listening to the rain as I go to sleep

:: friends who moved into the other house

:: a basement full of canned garden goodness

:: a spookily decorated house

:: little boys who never cease to entertain, and who's innocent insights are so profound

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful:

:: that the insurance company is going to cover the loss of our radiology unit due to last weeks storm.

:: we can pick pint fulls of blackberries and are enjoying every mouth-watering bite.

:: for lemonade stands and making lemonade out of lemons.

:: the humidity has eased into crisp mornings followed by warm days.

:: we leave on vacation in two days!

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful:

:: that we made it through our first fair, and enjoyed every exhausting minute of it.

:: that the garden, despite a very cool June, has allowed us to have farm bags every week (week 5 going home now)!

:: for zyrtec~ truly saved my life yesterday!

:: for thunderstorms (tho' I may have to curse the one we had this week by the end of today, we'll see what the equipment repair man says at work today).

:: that the boy lights up at the words soccer practice

:: that Sid, walks the garden and can name everything, even pulled the word perennial out appropriately last night.

:: that even during the tough times, there is always something to be thankful for!

Today I am most thankful:

::  That I spent way too much money on a little orchid plant for New Years brunch, then that I kept the little ivy bits after it was done, only to be surprised with new blooms today!

::   That we are expected to get some relief from this heat wave tonight.

::  That the garden seems to have hit its stride and is thriving.

::  That this summer is turning out to be one adventure after another for the kids!

Today,  I am ever so thankful:

:: That I can cross every commitment that cluttered my calendar this week off and exhale.

::  That little boys sleep so soundly after long adventurous days at camp.

:: That though it was a sad farewell, the roosters found a good home.

:: That while hanging onto my little girl, she is blossoming and testing her wings so gracefully.

:: That a good friend is home safe and though injured, is with us, in almost one piece ;)

:: my little man, sitting on the porch taking apart the spent fireworks to figure it all out

This week I am oh so thankful:

::  that Tuesday evening I was reminded that old friendships never die, they return like time has stood still, even after many years of dormancy.

::  for the loads of giggles that we have experienced from our family bad mitten rounds each evening this week.

:: that I have been able to watch a very diligent mama and daddy robin tirelessly feed the two babies that are in the nest outside my window at work.

::  for fireflies

::  that we are almost ready for our fourth annual chili cook off Saturday!

::   for the amazing, rich, cold brewed gold that I made last weekend, it's almost gone!!

::  warm sleepy good morning snuggles from the kids before they embark on another fun filled summer day.

Thankful Thursday~ For Char

This morning when I read over at  Julochka's about the death of a blogging friend I felt numb.  I had just been thinking about her last night and wondering about her recent silence.  Maybe it resonated so much this morning as the wounds from a friends death last week are fresh and have just begin healing.  I went on to work, my thoughts elsewhere, and around noon I went online.  In my reader I found this outpouring of tributes to Char and my soul was once again touched. 

Today I feel thankful for having known Char's beautiful bloggy voice, stunning photography and words of encouragement.

 Today I am thankful for this amazing community of bloggers who all feel the importance of our friendships, and who today all intensely feel this loss.

Thanks to MissBuckle for starting my day with a great post that I thought about all day long.

I'm thankful.....


~  that the sky looked like this early this morning when I came down to pour coffee.  How can a day go wrong when this is the first thing you see!

~  that I got to work and this little bird was hard at work nest building, and I could watch him all day long.

~  that the first thing Sidney asked me after school was if we were having dinner on the porch again tonight.

~ That the days are getting wonderfully longer, and I can almost taste the days of summer.
