Intoxicating

It is officially one of my very favorite times of year, that two week window when my lilac bush below the kitchen window is in full bloom.  I find myself longing to simply stand in the kitchen and be intoxicated by its scent. 

In the North we have a small window between spring and summer, sometimes the two do not look wholly different.  What are some of the things that you wait the long cold months for??

May In Review

Typically May is the start of the growing season on the farm. This year, when May arrived, the season was well under way. It is hard to believe that today is June first! One week left of school for the kids and though the cool weather the last two days is seasonal, it is very foreign to our experience this year. We have been so spoiled with 68-85 degree weather, really off and on since March, as you can see from May's shots. Today, the cool weather and damp ground affords us some quality weeding time and an opportunity to transplant some fennel. Thankful Thursday

Thanks to MissBuckle for starting my day with a great post that I thought about all day long.

I'm thankful.....


~  that the sky looked like this early this morning when I came down to pour coffee.  How can a day go wrong when this is the first thing you see!

~  that I got to work and this little bird was hard at work nest building, and I could watch him all day long.

~  that the first thing Sidney asked me after school was if we were having dinner on the porch again tonight.

~ That the days are getting wonderfully longer, and I can almost taste the days of summer.
