Feeding My Soul
Shorter days, that bring twilight at supper time.
Crisp mornings that glaze the surroundings with droplets of dew.
Soft breezes begin to coax the trees of their heavy burdens,
swirling leaves just tinged with color to our feet.
Windows flung wide open welcoming.
Fresh apples, full of the promise, just waiting to be transformed.
The garden's gift, wrapped in hard work, with a bow tied by mother nature's elements.
This, the beginning of Fall, a season that feeds my soul.

Ebb and Flow of the Mountain (Colorado Chronicles)
Living in a circa 1930's log cabin for a few days amplified the splendor of mountain wind. I don't know if it was the time of year, a typical day, or if all of the currents that pour East into the plains come swirling through the Rockies in rapid succession. Whatever the cause, the weather was simply fluid. One moment it would be pristine, the next gusts of wind would usher clouds and thunder in.
Just when I would get set to hunker down and watch the storm or figure out what to do with the now indoors children, it was gone. This wasn't just a one time deal. It cycled repetitively over the time we were there.
It was like a ballroom dance in the sky moving from waltz to polka. Ebbing and flowing. Always blowing the sounds of the mountain through our lovely little cabin.

Ruffled Feathers
What a wonderful and productive day! We've been doing masses of farm chores and fall garden tasks. We literally blew through, or should I say we were blown from project to project with the crazy gale force winds today. It was an early release at school today and we had one of those wonderful family moments all sitting on the front porch with our hair blowing wild and shelling white beans. Sigh... this is what it's all about!
We even did a little chicken chasing. They decided the garden looked like the perfect place to hunt and peck. Well, I must say we did irritate Bright-heart, the rooster, and he let us know it! Sorry, the Swiss chard and cold weather produce is ours! Happy Friday!
